As we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we remember not only the culture and joy associated with the day, but the deep faith and missionary courage of Saint Patrick.

Kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave, Patrick could have allowed hardship to harden his heart. Instead, suffering led him closer to God. After escaping and returning home, he eventually chose to go back to the very land where he had once been enslaved—this time to share the Gospel. Through humility, perseverance, and trust in Christ, he helped bring the light of the Christian faith to countless people.

Patrick’s life reminds us that God can transform even our most difficult experiences into a mission of grace. The places where we have struggled can become the very places where we are called to love, forgive, and serve.

Today is an invitation to pray for Patrick’s courage: that we, too, may trust God in every circumstance and boldly share our faith through the way we live. 🍀🙏

“Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me…” — from the prayer attributed to Saint Patrick.
