We are one month into this year’s HOPE Appeal and are already over halfway to our goal. This pace is faster than Father O’Connor can run…. But he’s gonna kick up his training schedule to keep up.  Novice runners often fade after a quick start, but the disciplined runner can run “reverse splits” where they get faster as the race goes on. Let’s make that our parish goal – keep a solid pace and continue toward our HOPE Appeal goal with disciplined giving.  The race image is an apt analogy for the HOPE Appeal – similar to the way it is used in the Letter to the Hebrews: “Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader, and perfecter of faith.” The cloud of witnesses supports us as we support others. It is so good to be reminded that we do not run the race of life alone. Please give generously to support this year’s HOPE Appeal.
