This year’s Season of Creation ends this Saturday, October 4, with our memorial to St. Francis of Assisi.  Our Season of Creation theme this year has been “Peace with Creation”.  The Biblical text focus for Season of Creation 2025 has been Isaiah 32:14-18. The prophet Isaiah pictured the desolated Creation without peace because of the lack of justice and the broken relationship between God and humankind. Our hope is that Creation will find peace when justice is restored through our prayers, conversions of heart, and actions for change. God’s sustenance and beauty offered to us through Creation is essential for us to exist and thrive.
St. Francis of Assisi understood that through creation, everything and everyone is connected in relationships that are essential for life and meant to glorify God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
As we close this Season of Creation and celebrate Francis of Assisi, let us reflect on some words from a song written based on Francis’s Canticle of Creation:
“The heavens are telling the glory of God,
And all creation is shouting for joy!!
Come dance in the forests; come play in the fields.
And sing!  Sing to the glory of the Lord!!
Sing! Sing to the glory of the Lord!!!
