Unity Acres is a House of Hospitality for men in Orwell. Their mission is to provide a safe, caring, and permanent home for men, and particularly those who have become chronically homeless due to alcohol or substance abuse, or other factors. Its founder and Director, until his death, Father Ray McVey, believed that the Acres should not receive any state or federal funding, but rather operate and care for its residents through the free will offerings and gifts of people who commit to caring for those who cannot care for themselves.

Parishioners are asked to bring food items from the list below to the gathering area next weekend, January 24/25. Items will be delivered after the 10:30 am Mass.

  • Baking Items:  frosting, cake, and brownie mixes.
  • Canned Items: baked beans, canned fruit, green beans, corn, beets, red kidney beans, black beans, tuna fish, crushed tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, pickles, mayonnaise.
  • Others:   vegetable oil, salad dressing, Country Crock margarine, white rice.
  • Etc: laundry detergent.
