Safe Environment Week – November 16 – 22, 2026
Since 2003, the Diocese of Syracuse has worked to protect children, youth, and vulnerable adults through its Safe Environment Program. Education, prevention, and accountability remain central to this mission, supported by training in abuse prevention, the Diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy, and the Diocesan Code of Conduct.
During Safe Environment Week, we recognize the many individuals who help make our parishes, schools, and agencies safer places for all. We are grateful for the dedication of our clergy, religious, employees, volunteers, and community partners, whose commitment to awareness, prevention, and safeguarding strengthens our entire diocesan community.
On behalf of Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, the Diocesan Safe Environment Committee, and the Office of Safe Environment, thank you to all who share in this essential responsibility. Together, we continue the important work of protecting the most vulnerable and fostering a culture of safety, respect, and care.
